People tend to donate less blood during the summer and especially during Ramadan time when they’re fasting, which causes blood banks to often run short. For that purpose and as part of Facebook’s Hack for Good initiative which aims at developing technological solutions capable of addressing real social challenges, the “Giving is in your blood” campaign was created to urge more to donate their blood. People who are fasting can donate blood, but only after they have broken their fast at sunset.

Facebook is partnering this year with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) across 12 countries in MENA including Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt.

Remember this Ramadan. It’s ok to give blood after Iftar ?
