Dubai Launched The World’s Largest Single-site Concentrated Solar Power

As part of the UAE Energy plan 2050, which aims at increasing clean energy use by 50 percent, Dubai is building the world’s largest concentrated solar power plant in one place, a project which will cost a whooping AED14 billion ($3.2bn) and will provide a capacity of 700 MW.

“The consortium bid the lowest Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE) of USD 7.3 cents per kilowatt hour (kW/h). The project will have the world’s tallest solar tower, measuring 260 metres. The power purchase agreement and the financial close are due to be finished shortly. The project will be commissioned in stages, starting from Q4 of 2020.

The plant is expected to be operational by 2020.
